Glasgow Close KnitPublished 21 Oct 2024
Next year, 2025, sees the 850th anniversary of the granting of its Bishop's Burgh Charter to what is now the city of Glasgow.
Accordingly, we now invite your congregation to take part in a presbytery wide project - Glasgow Close Knit
This draws inspiration from a verse in the letter to the Colossians which speaks of us being ' knit together in love'
In church groups and community groups, either existing ones or ones newly formed for this project, you are invited to knit blankets or squares for blankets. Please take photos of groups at work where you can - in churches, homes, care homes, schools at a presbytery meeting, in a Glasgow Close or wherever
Completed blankets will eventually be displayed as pieces of art in one centre in each of the five presbytery zones. Thereafter they will be distributed by the Lodging House Mission to those who are houseless or experiencing difficulty keeping warm or in other kinds of need
In this anniversary year the presbytery and its congregations and parishes may continue to demonstrate the love of God in Jesus Christ which knits us all together in the most practical of ways continuing a tradition of care for the poor and faithful service of our Lord.
Come along to St George's Tron on Saturday 23rd November between 11am and 4pm to knit or crochet together. Don't worry if you do not know how, there will be folk on hand to teach you.
